Plot: A Boat to Nowhere

The story starts out with a monster man, Kien, coming to the village in Vietnam. The rising action starts when Kien becomes problems. Later he saves a lot of people like Uncle Tam. The government people comes and asks Thay Van Chi to say sorry to the villagers that he taught bad things. Thay Van Chi, Kien, Loc, and Mai gets out of the village. There are a lot of little climaxes in this book, but there are two major climax. They reached Thailand, but they get rejected. They found an outcast island, but they found out that the people were trying to take the Sea Breeze. They escaped from the island. The falling action is when they come out and meets storms and Thay Van Chi dies. The resolution is that Kien got on to a ship, but he comes back to Sea Breeze and the Sea Breeze gets sunk and they die.

Character

There are alot of characters in the story. Kien, Hong, Mai, Loc, Thay Van Chi, and Uncle Tam. The major characters are Kien, Mai, Loc, and Thay Van Chi. Kien is the one that was a stranger but he came the hero for Uncle Tam, and Loc. Mai is a girl that has a lot of fear, but she overcame fear. Loc is Mai's little brother, and he doesn't know the world well. Thai Van Chi is the grand father and he is the head of the village. He is brave, but he is too old so he can't do what he wants to do for others, like Loc and Mai.

Theme (A Boat to Nowhere 2)

The theme of this book is a life of a family that is goes out into the sea and finding a place to live because of the new government that is presuring their family. It talks about the terrible things and hard things they had to deal in the sea.

A Boat to Nowhere 1

The setting of the novel is in a town or village in Vietnam. There are characters like Kien, Hong, Loc and many others that lives in village. There is only one kid that is not from the village, Kien. Later people comes froms the government and kien and those guys are the only people that is not from the town until chapter 6 in the novel.

Secrets

I have a secret about my eye. When i was young i usually liked to sit on the middle of the back seat. I just thought that was the best spot in the car. One day i sat down at the middle spot and the car just stopped and i lost control of myself so i hit my head in the storage betweent the left and right seat of the front of the car. I was bleeding above my eye, so i couldn't open my eye, but still i didn't want to tell my mom because i was scared of my mom. I think Secret also come out of fear and the fear of me toward my mom made me not tell her, but she knew it after i told her. Now days i am always scared of rain falling so i can't see it properly because it feels like blood coming down and i have fear of something that is coming close ot my eye. I don't know if people noticed, but when it rains or snows i hate it, and i usually don't talk or look at people.

Courage

Courage is a hard thing to have in these days because people likes to follow the popular thing stuff, but things that are right. Courage is when you have braveness to do something that is right insted of doing bad things like the popular things. I think courage is hard because we want to be popular and be socilized with friends, not become a loner. Being loner is a really lonely thing so people try to do what the world wants. We might have courage to do things, but we might not do it because we are scared of the world.
In my life, there was things that i needed courage to do. One day in elementary, my friends were fighting and they were trying to sneak out of the school because they would get in trouble if they get caught during fighting. I was wondering if i should tell my teacher or not. If i told my teacher i thought i would get far away from my friends, but i also thought that telling my teacher was the right thing. I thought i t would be good for my friends if i tell the teacher because they would go to the hospital and get less trouble because i told the teacher and the students came back to school and went home. Our friendship got kind of not that good, but still we were friends after the event that happened. I could have not tell the teacher, but i told the teacher, that is courage because i did the right thing, not a wrong thing. I almost didn't tell my teacher which is a thing that world and popular things would be, but i chose to be courageous and told the teacher.
A lot of time it is hard to do the right things, but if we practice we will get used to it and tell the true things, not things that world wants.
